Majorettes
Diamond Twirlers Majorettes are a Tiverton-based majorette troupe, and they have now been hosting their annual majorette competition at Uffculme Sports and Fitness Centre for the past two years.
The competition brings together a number of majorette troupes from across Devon, with children and adults of different ages competing throughout the day in Military, Twirl and Pom routines.
Just to mention, on the competition day, Diamond Twirlers don’t actually perform in the sports hall themselves as they are responsible for running and hosting the event.
Around 700 people attend their competitions, including competitors, families and supporters, so it’s always a really busy day!

We’re proud to welcome the Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB) South West to Uffculme Sport & Fitness.
For the past four years, our main hall has hosted the KUGB South West’s annual local competition, bringing together around 150 competitors from clubs across the South West, as well as visiting clubs from South Wales. We also host an annual KUGB training course, where leading instructors visit the centre to deliver specialist masterclasses.
Founded in 1966, the KUGB was the first organisation established in the UK to promote Shotokan Karate. Today, KUGN clubs continue to follow the traditional and disciplined approach to training, developing both physical ability and personal character.
Karate offers far more that physical fitness. Regular training can help develop strength, coordination, concentration, confidence, self-discipline and respect, with children in particular benefiting from focus and positive behaviour encouraged through training.
Training covers three key areas: Kihon (fundamental techniques). Kata (formal exercises) and Kumite (sparring), with techniques and training adapted to suit different ages and experience levels.
You don’t need to be fit to start - fitness develops naturally alongside your karate training.
There are KUGB clubs locally in Willand, Cullompton, Tiverton and Bradninch.
